New Album from Godin Endorsee Lionel Loueke

New Album from Godin Endorsee Lionel Loueke -

Godin endorsee and jazz guitar virtuoso, Lionel Loueke brings a more electric and steel string guitar sound to his latest album "Heritage", which is set for release on Blue Note Records this coming August 28th, 2012.

"Heritage" is the anticipated follow up to his two previous acclaimed Blue Note recordings, Karibu (2008) & Mwaliko (2010). The guitarist/vocalist from Benin, West Africa who has fittingly been described as a "gentle virtuoso" by Jon Pareles of the New York Times, through his fusion of traditional West African sounds with his incredible sense of groove, complex time signatures and modern jazz harmonies.

Lionel Loueke has long been a fan of his Godin Multiac nylon string guitars for both live performances and studio recordings. The Multiac series of guitars are renowned for their exceptional amplified acoustic sound and feel, all without feedback in live & loud settings. Loueke's nylon string models of choice include the Multiac Grand Concert SA and Multiac Grand Concert Duet Ambiance. However, on this latest album, he has gravitated towards the steel string side of the Godin line-up. Most notably, the Godin Multiac Spectrum Steel SA electro-acoustic and the Godin 5th Avenue Jazz with a floating mini-humbucker jazz pickup.

"The 5th Avenue is the perfect addition to my Godin guitars because of its lightweight and its incredible and versatile tone," says Loueke of his 5th Avenue Jazz with a lustrous Piano Black high-gloss finish.

No stranger to playing with great musicians, Loueke has shared the stage and studio with jazz greats such as Terence Blanchard, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Jack DeJohnette, and Charlie Haden to name a few. On "Heritage" Loueke is joined by the amazing talents of bassist Derrick Hodge, drummer Mark Guiliana and the albums co-producer & Blue Note label mate Robert Glasper on piano.
