Pearl Jam Debut Hits 10 Million Sales Mark
Pearl Jam's album
'Ten,' which features classics such as
'Even Flow,' 'Oceans' and 'Alive,' has
now sold over 10 million copies in the US.
Billboard reports that 'Ten' has now
surpassed the colossal 10 million mark, making the Seattle veterans
1991 debut only the 22nd album to reach the landmark sales point
since Nielsen Soundscan began tracking sales figures in 1991.
In the week ending Feb. 17, 'Ten'
shifted nearly 4,000 copies (up 159% over the previous week)
pushing its total sales to just over 10 million.
Guitarist Mike McCready said of the
"I'm happily shocked to hear that. Wow. We had no idea that it
was going to ever do that well. I just felt like it was a really
cool record and that I was in a good band."
'Ten' now joins Linkin
Park's 'Hybrid Theory,'
and Adele's '21' to
reach 10 million US sales since the start of 2012.
Since 1991 according to SoundScan the biggest selling album is
Metallica's self-titled 1991 release, which has
sold 15.86 million.
