Gary Holt Won’t Quit Exodus for Slayer Full Time

Gary Holt Won't Quit Exodus for Slayer Full Time -

Exodus' lead axe-man Gary Holt has revealed that the only way he'd join Slayer full-time is if he didn't have to quit his day-job with the Californian thrash-metal outfit.

Holt, who replaced Tim Agnello in 1981, is the main songwriter and the most senior member of the group. In 2011 he was hired by Slayer to stand-in for Jeff Hannerman after he suffered a near-fatal spider but whist touringAustraliain 2011.

However, whilst Holt isn't ruling out taking the position on a permanent basis, he states that it'll only ever happen if he can stay with Exodus.

He tells Metal Titans (via Classic Rock Magazine):

"Not if it meant the end of what I've been doing all my life.

"I've been filling in for just over two years now and I'm booked all year with them. But I'm keeping the work going with Exodus - I've been doing a lot of riff-writing on tour.

"In the summer with Slayer I'm taking a little digital recording rig with me, so I can continue to working on stuff in hotel rooms."
