Fans of The Who Can Use 1979 Ticket to Next Year's Cincinnati Show -
The Who will be returning to North America next year as part of their recently announced 'Quadrophenia and More,' tour. The extensive US tour trek will see Townshend and Daltrey return to Cincinnati, Ohio for the first time since 1979 when a show was cancelled due to safety concerns after a crush entering the Riverfront Coliseum killed 11 people. The Who will end their tour in Providence on February 26 at the same venue where its show was cancelled 33 years ago, which is now called the Dunkin Donuts Centre. And fans still holding tickets for the show will However, fans that still have tickets for the ill-fated show will now get to use the after General Manager Lawrence Lepore announced the venue will honour tickets from the cancelled 1979 date. Mr Lepore said that many ticket holders have already received refunds for the show, but others may have held on to their tickets as memorabilia.
"Somewhere, someplace, someone's got it stashed," he said. "The question is, are they willing to give that up? If they are, we're willing to take it." The highest price ticket at the 1979 show was 14 dollars, Mr Lepore said. Tickets for February's show range from US $57.50 to $127.50 dollars. Joining the group's two surviving members, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, will be Zak Starkey (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), Simon Townshend (guitar), Chris Stainton and Loren Gold (both keyboards).
