Hartley Peavey to Receive Historic Mississippi Blues
Trail Marker -
Mississippi to Honour Hartley Peavey with Historic Blues Trail
Marker on January 17, 2013
Mississippi will honour Hartley Peavey-founder and CEO of Peavey
Electronics-with a marker on the Historic Mississippi Blues Trail
on January 17, 2013. The marker recognizes Hartley Peavey's
contribution to Mississippi's blues heritage and is the only marker
representing a manufacturer.
The Mississippi Blues Trail, created by the Mississippi Blues
Commission, is a project to place interpretive markers at the most
notable historical sites related to the growth of the blues
throughout the state of Mississippi. The trail extends from the
border of Louisiana in southern Mississippi and winds its way to
Memphis, Tennessee. Mississippi has spawned more legendary blues
artists than all other Southern States combined. This is especially
true for the Mississippi Delta, which was home to such artists as
Son House, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Muddy Waters, Skip
James, Bukka White, John Lee Hooker, and B. B. King.
As the founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics Corporation,
Hartley Peavey heads one of the world's largest and most
diversified manufacturers of musical-instrument and
professional-audio products, boasting more than 180 patents, a
product line exceeding 2,000 products, and distribution in 136
countries. Today Peavey is at the vanguard of an industry he first
turned on its ear and revolutionized over 48 years ago with his
innovative manufacturing advancements and the philosophy of
building high-quality gear that musicians could afford. Peavey
Electronics has been manufacturing continuously under the same
ownership and management longer than any other major American music
and pro audio manufacturer.
"I was born and raised in Mississippi and the state has been
the home of Peavey Electronics since its founding in 1965," stated
Hartley Peavey. "Mississippi is the point-of-origin of America's
musical history and I am honored to have been a part of that. The
musical legacy of Mississippi still flows through the veins of
Peavey Electronics and always will. "
The marker unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 3:30pm at Peavey
Headquarters located at 5022 Hartley Peavey Drive in Meridian,
Mississippi, and a reception sponsored by Peavey Electronics will
follow. Both events are open to the public.
