Japanese Distillery to Release Limited Edition Whiskey to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of the Rolling Stones - As the Rolling Stones approach their 50th anniversary, and as rumours of a possible anniversary tour still loom, a Japanese beverage manufacturer has announced a limited-edition blended whiskey to mark the milestone event, reports UltimateClassicRock
The Suntory Group, which was established in 1899 and is based in Osaka, will release the limited edition whiskey on October 30th. There will be only be 150 bottles available at the recommended retail price of 500,000 yen (£4,500). There will be a variety of blends available, with each representing significant years in the Rolling Stones' storied history. For example, the 1962 Yamazaki is in memory of the year the band formed, and the 1971 Yamazaki represents the year the Stones' adopted their logo. Other whiskeys to be included in the blend are the Hakushu malt and Chita grain ones from 1990, when the Stones made their first trip to Japan.
The beverage will be available in a unique bottle shaped in the band's iconic tongue and lips logo.
