Jimmy Page Promises 'Added Sonic and Visual Thrills' on Upcoming Zepp Reissues -
The upcoming deluxe editions of each of Led Zeppelin's studio albums are set to include "substantial rarities." according to the man masterminding the mammoth reissue campaign.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Jimmy Page revealed that the new remasters will be released "bit by bit" and will include "added sonic and visual thrills."
Page explains:
"The catalogue was last remastered 20 years ago. That's a long time. Everything is being transferred from analog to a higher-resolution digital format. That's one of the problems with the Zeppelin stuff. It sounds ridiculous on MP3. You can't hear what's there properly."
He goes on to point out that there was an overage of Zeppelin material and fans can also expect:
"Different versions of things, different approaches to the mixes …there were a lot of different approaches. It will be fascinating for people to witness the work in progress."
He also addressed the possibility of including classic live performances, saying: "There are concerts that were recorded, some that might have appeared on bootleg in some shape or form, and a certain amount of footage, though not a lot."
Each of the rock legends albums, from 1969's 'Led Zeppelin' to 1979's 'In Through the Out Door', plus the 1982 post-breakup collection, 'Coda' will receive the deluxe reissue treatment.
