The 2013 Grammy Award 'Rock' Winners - The 55th annual Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles (Feb.11) last night with Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Fun. and Halestorm emerging as winners in the 'Rock Category.'
Garage rockers The Black Keys took accolades for 'Best Rock Performance' and 'Best Rock Song' for 'Lonely Boy,' which the pair also performed live at the Staples Center, as well as picking up 'Best Rock Album' for 'El Camino.' In addition frontman Dan Auerbach also won 'Producer of the Year.' The Ohio two piece were also nominated for 'Record of the Year' and 'Album of the Year.' Mumford & Sons, who had received six nominations prior to the ceremony, took home 'Album of the Year' for 2012's 'Babel.' On winning the award Marcus Mumford said: "We figured we weren't going to win anything because The Black Keys have been sweeping up all day, rightfully so.'' Fun. were awarded with 'Best New Artist,' beating Alabama Shakes, Hunter Hayes, The Lumineers and Frank Ocean, as well as 'Song of the Year' for 'We Are Young,' featuring Janelle Monae. There were many surprises at last night's awards but probably none more so than Halestorm who toppled a slew of battle-hardened 'Rock & Metal' acts to earn 'Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance' for their track 'Love Bites (So Do I).' Frontgirl Lzzy Hale said backstage, "It's an incredible genre to be a part of because rock isn't always the most popular genre. Sometimes we're underground, but we all work really hard on the road. We all look out for one another."
Also among the winners was Nine Inch Nails kingpin Trent Reznor, who shared the award for 'Best Score Soundtrack' with Atticus Ross. 2013 Grammy Awards Rock Categories - Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance
